intersecting pathways

Lamole di Lamole - a breathtaking panorama - a place that deeply holds tradition of quality. Quality is seen in the integrity of the natural environment shaped by the many vineyards and landscapes, and the complex structure of terraces. The vineyards in Lamole have existed over 700years. They possess at their core, a deep knowledge that can be shared with others.
When visiting Lamole,
its vineyards and the site,
Kristian (my teammate) and
I made two key observations
that play an inflential role
in the decisions made for the
architecture proposal.
The first observation is the
identification of global existing
patterns, those being the vineyard´s
terraces, stonewall edges, vine rows,
and water basins.
The second observation is the
axial axis path which is being
used by local workers, researchers,
and visitors as the main walking
walking that leads you from one
terrace to another and from the
bottom of the site to the top of
the site.
The conclusion of the initial
study reveals that the patterns
(located north/south) and the axis
(located east/west) are linear
elements that meet/cross each other.

The linear axis operates as the main
walkway from one structure to another.
The architectural designs are inserted
next to the existing water basins,
along the central water axis.

The terraces act as inhabiters
of the new structures.
The vine rows are being
used as primary access into
each structure. The different
water basins change their
function based on the program
that is adjacent to them.
The stone wall edges act as
walking ways and main wast
facing structural walls.
