sculpting the ground; creating an environment to be inhabited by people and water.

Observed essential features in
Nesodden are the presence of the
rock and the Fjord. Around and
on those natural elements, the
existing community and housing
are built. However, the grounds
and water are perceived as
individual entities that are
taken for granted to exist.
They play a secondary role
when it comes to the question
of looking at them as architectural
assets when shaping a constructed
environment for people.
The proposed project is interested
in exploring the architectural
possibilities of the ground and
the water with the goal of creating
a holistic environment to be
inhabited and explored by people
and water.

The inhabited ground is being sculpted on three different datums - at sea level, below ground, and above ground; each intervention has a different function to either store water, move water, shelter people, move people, and connect to the Fjord.
